Workshop Overview: Libraries are asked to do more than ever to help their communities thrive – often by assisting job seekers in gaining meaningful, livable employment. This can take the form of helping library users in job searching, application prep, and other social/employment services – which can be challenging for frontline staff to navigate alone. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and partners developed through the Library Workforce Connection statewide workgroup (formerly known as LAWDS) are hosting an in-person workforce development collaboration workshop on Friday, May 24th, at the Brown County Central Library in Green Bay, WI, to facilitate collaboration, discuss available resources, and share networking opportunities for library and workforce development staff.
Learn about multiple area-relevant workforce development and wraparound service initiatives, methods, and partnership opportunities.
You will learn tips, strategies, and best practices for forming local partnerships in your own communities. Networking opportunities will be offered, so that by the end of the day on May 24th, you will come away with NEW connections, tools, and confidence to help your communities thrive!
FREE catered lunch is included with the workshop. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available.
Presenters will include: Chris Baker & Beth Tomev from the Library Services Team of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Mark Jochem (Workforce Development Consultant with the South Central Library System), Danielle Zeamer (Library Services Associate; Brown County Library), Kellie Dunn-Poggemann (Workforce Readiness Director; the Wisconsin Society for Human Resource Management), Millie Coby (Director of Community Engagement & Agency Impact, Employ Milwaukee), and the Forward Service Corporation in Green Bay.
This workshop is presented by the DPI and open to library staff across northeastern Wisconsin. Space is limited.
